Snowshoeing on Etna

Itinerary

Also this year  the  Volcanological Guides  organize trekking and snowshoeing scheduled  every day for the winter months

Among all the activities, this one is certainly easy to approach even for the little ones who will be able to enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience in close contact with nature and the volcano.

The route includes a visit to the  2002 Craters , passing through the structures destroyed by lava flows, through the woods on the northern side of Etna, up to the Craters. All for a total distance of  5 km (there and back)  and a total of  3 hours of walking .

Warnings

Departures scheduled upon reaching a minimum of 6 participants

The trek does not require great physical preparation, it is easy and does not have particularly difficult passages, however  attention is required  as it is on volcanic soil, often inconsistent and unstable.

This itinerary, in relation to its typology, is suitable for people in good physical health, who do not suffer from particular pathologies ( cardiovascular ,  respiratory  or  hypertension ).

Tips for a Safe and Comfortable Hike

We recommend that you dress in layers to better cope with the changes in the weather. Wear a thermal shirt, a fleece or down jacket, and a windbreaker. Even better if you opt for a ski suit. Don’t forget gloves and a hat to protect yourself from the cold.

As for footwear, choose sturdy trekking shoes to ensure maximum comfort and safety on any terrain.
