A Journey into the Heart of the Volcano

Walk on lunar landscapes and feel the heat of the Earth.

This is not just a simple hike, but a total immersion in the spectacular scenery of Mount Etna. We will cross the recent lava flows produced between 2022 and 2025 by the South-East Crater, reaching the effusive vent that feeds the active lava flow, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the volcano's summit area.

Afternoon Sunset Tour

Program:

  • Meet at Rifugio Sapienza (1900 m).
  • Ascent by cable car and 4x4 bus to 2800 m.
  • 4.5 km trek to the active effusive vent.
  • Full 8 km downhill return trek to the starting point (1900 m).

Important Tip:

Bringing a headlamp is recommended, as part of the return will be after sunset.
