How much does it cost to climb Mount Etna at an altitude of 3000 metres?

To reach an altitude of 3,000 metres at Etna Nord, simply drive your car to Piano Provenzana, and then purchase the package with the included guide (by calling our number +393455741330), who will take you up providing information on the volcano’s eruptive history and the magnificent landscape around you.

Description

Departures every day (from April to November) from Piano Provenzana at 10.30 a.m. (first departure) and at 1.30 p.m. (second departure) by all-terrain vehicles. The ascent is by authorised vehicles, along the panoramic road that climbs the northern slope of the volcano between ancient and large craters and recent lava flows up to the Volcanological Observatory at an altitude of 2800 metres.Once there, you will be accompanied by our guides to the Belvedere di Pizzi Deneri to admire the grandiose panorama, from Etna’s summit craters to the Ionian Sea, passing through Valle del Bove and Valle del Leone (visibility may vary depending on weather or volcanic conditions). Back on the vehicles, the next stop will be the Craters of the 2002 Eruption, where you will make a short and fascinating walk along the edges of the craters of the eruption that destroyed Piano Provenzana, after which you will return to the vehicles for the return journey.

IMPORTANT

  • Not all tour agencies offer tours, excursions, or trekking above 1800m altitude so please always ask about the characteristics of the experience before booking!
  • As a company of legally qualified Volcanological Guides, we carry out excursions to the highest areas of the volcano up to the summit at an altitude of 3300m, even during eruptions.
  • Before organising visits to the lava flows, we are required to observe the ongoing volcanic phenomenon, which, if assessed as safe, may allow the approach of tourists accompanied by our licensed guides.
