Up to what altitude is it possible to climb the Etna volcano?
Ordinance of access to the Etna volcano: Municipality of Bronte
Considering the 58 paroxysms (violent activities of a purely explosive nature) produced by the South East Crater starting from 13 December 2020 until 21 September 2021, it is appropriate to establish adequate access methods to the volcanic phenomena in progress. Although the alert is still in red as per the DPRC Notice (of February 16, 2021) which defined the access limit to the volcano no higher than 2500 m.t. in a coherent way on all the slopes of the volcano, many enthusiasts and not, attracted by the eruptive events, have however decided to venture with the intention of approaching the active area.
Consequently considered:
– The difficulty in carrying out a 24-hour check of the areas affected by the eruptive events.
– The Mayor of the Municipality of Linguaglossa, having heard the opinion of the experts, of the representatives of our society of Volcanological Guides (of which the minutes have been attached), given that the activity of the volcano is still characterized by moments of stalemate between an activity and the other with lower degrees of risk, has published a new Trade Union Ordinance.
As a group of qualified guides we always invite you to be cautious, to respect the rules and not to venture into inaccessible areas exposed to possible dangers of multiple nature.
