DESCRIPTION Etna Excursion

Enjoy the sunset and the eruption at the summit of Mount Etna.

The meeting with the guide is scheduled on the volcano at an altitude of 1800 meters at 6:00 PM. Afterwards, we will ascend along the magnificent panoramic road on the north side of Etna, using special 4×4 vehicles to reach an altitude of 2960 meters – As close as possible with transportation, which will remain on site at our disposal. The excursion will continue on foot, covering approximately 3 km uphill with a positive elevation gain of 450 meters (strongly discouraged for those who do little physical activity) from 2960 meters to 3300 meters, the true summit of the Sicilian volcano. Once at the top of Mount Etna, you will enjoy the spectacle of the Summit Craters, the colors of the rocks, the continuous emissions of high-temperature volcanic gases, all accompanied by the sunset on the horizon. The descent will partly follow the same path as the ascent, then proceed through channels of volcanic ash and scoria, until the final return to the special 4×4 vehicle, which will take you back to the starting point of the excursion. The return is expected by 10:00 PM.

  • The total duration of the trekking will depend on the pace.
  • The excursion will be conducted within the limits set by the current regulations.
  • Suitable for children over 13 years old.
  • The route includes climbing and walking along crater rims, which may cause vertigo in sensitive individuals.
  • This itinerary, given the type and altitude, is suitable for people in good physical health who do not suffer from specific conditions (strongly discouraged ⛔️ for those with cardiovascular, respiratory, or hypertension issues).
  • We advise against the use of contact lenses due to volcanic gases and ash, which can easily cause problems if blown.
  • Pregnant women who are beyond their third month are not allowed to participate in any type of hiking activity.
  • To ensure the successful outcome of the excursion and the proper conduct of the activity, it is important to be fully aware of your health condition and inform the guide if necessary, to minimize the risk of potential problems and avoid hazards ⚠️.
