Summit Craters Excursion at 3300m

Excursion to the Summit of Etna

Aboard special 4x4 vehicles, we will travel the scenic road on the north side up to 2960m. From here, a 3km trek (330m ascent) on a path of volcanic scoria will begin, with breaks for explanations and refreshments.

Upon reaching the summit at 3300m, we will admire the uniqueness of the Central Crater and the breathtaking view. The descent will be partly on the same path and partly through channels of volcanic sand, before getting back on the 4x4 vehicles to return to Piano Provenzana.

Detailed Schedule

• 7:45 AM / 1:15 PM: Meeting at Piano Provenzana (1800m).
• 8:00 AM / 1:30 PM: Departure and ascent by 4x4 to 2960m.
• ~9:00 AM / ~2:30 PM: Start of the 3km trek to the Summit Craters.
• ~11:00 AM / ~4:30 PM: Arrival at the summit (3300m) and visit.
• ~12:00 PM / ~5:00 PM: Start of the descent on foot (2km).
• ~1:30 PM / ~6:00 PM: Expected return to Piano Provenzana.

Read carefully

• Physical Effort: Not recommended for those who do not engage in physical activity regularly. Good physical preparation is required.
• Health: Not recommended ⛔️ for those suffering from cardiovascular, respiratory, hypertension, obesity, or psychiatric disorders.
• Children: Suitable for children over 13 years old.
• No Contact Lenses: Ash and gases can cause irritation.
• Pregnancy: Not permitted for pregnant women past their third month.

Useful Information

In case of adverse weather, the excursion may be canceled or postponed. You will be notified as soon as possible.

Payment is made on the day of the excursion directly to the guide. No advance payment is required (except for agencies or groups).

In case of many requests, participants will be divided into smaller groups with different guides.
